Prior to the pandemic, most association and non-profit events had historically focused on the in-person presence for issue awareness, industry education, meaningful relationships, and community building between members and donors. And while the swift, necessary pivot to virtual events brought new benefits and opportunities, we see a hot debate amongst associations and non-profits on what the ideal return to in-person events strategy looks like. Given the recent economic conditions, including inflated in-person event costs, and the challenge of justifying budgets, there is an increasing level of pressure to build engaging, cost-effective, and meaningful event programs.
